How To Edit hosts File on Windows OS

Steps To Edit Host File on Windows 8,8.1,10 this method also work on windows 7..etc version 🙂

  • Open File Explorer 
  • Go to this location C:WindowsSystem32driversetc
  • Open Properties of hosts (file)
  • Uncheck the Read-Only Permission 
  • Click Security TAB 
  • Under Security TAB Clik “Edit” Button
  • Select User and Enable “Modify” & “Write” Permission
  • Click “Apply” & then “Ok”
  • Once again Click “Apply” & “Ok”
  • Now double click on “hosts” file and open with “notepad” & Start edit & save It. 🙂
  • Close the explorer 

Using Command Prompt

  • Open command Prompt 
    • on window 8 & 10 use “windows+X” key & Clik command prompt
    • on windows 7 use “windows+R” key & type “cmd” then hit enter
    • Type cd..two times 
    • Now type this cmd “cd windows/system32/drivers/etc”
    • Now type “notepad hosts”
    • Edit hosts file and save it 🙂
